Caring for my baby
I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in November, and currently on maternity leave. I am adjusting to my evolved identity and purpose. While fully sleep deprived, I am loving this new world I've entered into with a whole new set of jargon, tools, and communities.
Reading
I am finding a groove of reading 1 non-fiction, 1 memoir, and 1 poetry book at the same time. For the memoir, I stalked one of my writer friends’ Goodreads, filtered by her 5 star ratings, and picked up I Miss You When I Blink. I’m gobbling it up. My dad has been encouraging me to read more poems, and I’ve been avoiding it because it’s hard for me to “get.” But Mary Oliver’s Devotions has been kind to me.
Reflecting on work every day
I decided to jot down every day after work what I learned, who I helped, and who helped me. This is for me to remember the slow, small progress and remember the details when I look back. Thank you Day One journal app for reminding me to do this daily!
